Holophane is a leading, vertically integrated international manufacturer and marketer of premium quality, highly engineered lighting fixtures and systems for a wide range of industrial, commercial and outdoor and roadway applications. Holophane said that it looks forward in building a relationship with GELEC that will bring a high level of information about the application of the products, specification support, timely tender quotation/installation assistance and after sales service for all our respective customers.

DODWELL Engineering

Mike Binns has also announced that on 20th April, 2000 GELEC concluded the purchase of the Mechanical Division of Dodwell Engineering from the Li & Fung Industrial Group.

He said, "The Dodwell Mechanical Division is an excellent fit with GELEC's activities, and the agencies coming over very much compliment our own activities.

Some of the key lines are:

Cape Calsil - Durasteel and Fireproof Board
Colt - Natural Ventilation Systems
IMI Yorkshire - Copper Tube and Fittings

There are various other important lines in pumps, fluid handling and other related activities.

We will be joined by 37 new colleagues from Dodwell and they will relocate to the offices on the 27th floor of CC Wu Building during the first week of May 2000. We also take on the exclusive distributorship of Cape Durasteel in Taiwan and six new members of staff will join our associate company Shriro Webb Ltd. in Taipei. In China we will also take over some of the existing Dodwell staff, and this will be finalised shortly.

We will rename the Mechanical Division the Building Services Division of GELEC in order not to confuse it with our own Mechanical & Electrical Division.

I look forward to introducing you to the new team in the coming weeks. This is an exciting expansion of GELEC's already impressive activities and I trust you will all join me in welcoming our new colleagues in early May 2000."

Volume wise Flow has recorded tremendous growth every year since its launch in 1996.

The Munich success was followed by an equally successful display at the Tokyo Snowshow in February.

Bunnies back in Hong Kong

Business seems to be picking up fast again in Hong Kong if the sales of Sees Candies, particularly over the Easter holiday period, are anything to go by.

Our subsidiary, V. Lee (HK) Ltd. enjoyed sales of chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs reminiscent of the pre recession days.

Sales of most consumer products that we handle in Hong Kong have enjoyed a similar resurgence.

But it will be a little while longer before capital spending returns and our sales of capital goods can be expected to languish a little longer!

Shriro Graphic Guangdong Exhibition

Recently, Shriro Graphic participated its first own booth in the Printing South China 2000 - an international printing exhibition organized by Guangdong Packaging Technology Association and Guangdong Printing Association.

Guangdong, being an important gateway for new products, makes this exhibition an important showcase not just for southern part but also the rest of China.

New technologies in this exhibition widen the number and range of both visitors and exhibitors than ever before. This year, worldwide participation from US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore etc. offered a wide variety of products ranging from all kinds of high grade packaging machinery and material, pre-press and electronic publishing equipment, printing material and testing quality control devices.

Together with the wellpraised symposium presented by Mr. Wilson Chan, our Assistant Sales Manager, the professional image of Shriro in the industry is further enhanced.
