  Offical Opening of Shriro House, Sydney, Australia

The new Shriro offices and warehouse were officially opened by Mr. Mark Shriro, Chairman of the Shriro Group, on Friday, May 3, 2002 in Sydney, Australia.

The event opened with a traditional Aboriginal "Smoke Ceremony", followed by Aboriginal dances, and a blessing of the land by the Aboriginal Elder in attendance.

Later an informal party with Country and Western music was held at the new office.

The new complex companises of 3200 sq.m. of warehouse, and 1500 sq.m. of office space and took 15 months to complete.

Commenting at the opening, Mr. Mark Shriro said how pleased he was with the new facility, and that he hoped it would be put to good use, especially in demonstrating to suppliers and customers our long term commitment to Australia.

Shriro Australia is the leading independent Consumer Electronics and Appliance distributors in Australia, and represents international brands such as Casio, G.E., and Gaggia including our own brand of Everdure gas heaters and barbeques.


 

Shriro Medical Limited

Michael Binns is pleased to announce the formation of Shriro Medical Limited in Bangkok, Thailand effective May 1, 2002. Neil Pryde already has an established manufacturing plant in the north of Thailand but this new venture represents the first Shriro marketing and distribution operation in this important market.

Shriro medical Limited has taken over the medical equipment and supplies business of Allied Medical Limited and DeeMed Healthcare Limited both well established companies in Thailand.

Led by Roy Barrett and Piti Phikulsod the company has an experienced staff of over sixty people with sales and service terms covering hospitals nationwide.

The company represents a number of leading manufacturers of equipment and supplies mainly in the areas of intensive care, cardiac care and orthopedics.

The existing strengths of the business are the high quality service and technical support provided to customers, the experienced and highly qualified sales teams serving the whole of Thailand and a portfolio of leading manufacturers.

GELEC AWARD

G E L E C (HK) Limited were recently presented with an award for "Outstanding Achievements" by their principle CAPE Asia Pacific, for achieving exceptional sales in the year 2001. The award has a special meaning for GELEC as it is the first received by the team acquired by S H R I R O in 2000 from D o d w e l l Engineering. Considering that the economy of Hong Kong saw a downturn in 2001, this award is very highly regarded by the company. Perhaps more importantly, it is a testament to the close working relationship between GELEC and their Principle CAPE Asia Pacific, which has undoubtedly contributed to this success. However, the final congratulations must go to the team responsible for the award. Shriro Shanghai Co., Ltd.

To streamline our operation in China, we have set up a company in Shanghai to embrace various existing activities and to serves as a building block of future expansion in the country. Shriro Shanghai Co., Ltd. was established on August 16, 2001 in the Free Trade Zone of Shanghai.

The company comprises of 8 departments taking care of the widerange trading activities in the area. While we keep on with the electrical and mechanical products represented by Gelec (HK) Ltd, we are also one of the major players in the material handling sector - we represent key forklift truck brands from USA (Crown) and Japan (Mitsubishi, Shinko).

'Head' tennis ravket will surely be a familiar name among the tennis players, where we distributes this famous brand throughout China.

The new office occupies 400 sq.m. in a commerical building in Pudong, approx. 5 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

Shriro Shanghai Co., Ltd. - Tianjin Branch

A Branch of Shriro Shanghai Co. Ltd. has also been registered in Tianjin Free Trade Zone.

The branch's function is mainly as a demo and service centre for our forklift and truf equipment. in addition to our active involvement in forklift and SMT business in the area.

Currently three staff are working in the branch and customer visits to the unit can always be arranged to carry out product demo within same day return by train or cars from Beijing.

The new office occupies 200 square meters net on the ground floor of a newly developed building, about 3-5 minutes by taxi from Tianjin East railway station.

Shriro Heavy Equipment Ltd - Beijing Rep. Office

To gear up and meet the changing demands and challenges of North China / Beijing business we have set up Shriro Heavy Equipment Ltd., Beijing Representative Office, under the management by Miss Lau Mei Gor.

Currently the business concentrates on the marketing of forklift, forced ventilation, turf ans sports equipment, with one staff working of each of the divisions in the area. Office space is readily available for expansion into other viable products / opportunities. Miss Lau is assisted by Miss Herrah He in running the office with her.

The new office in Beijing occupied 100 sq.m. net on 15/F of a newly developed commercial building, New Town, Situated on the east of Beijing city. It takes about 20 minutes by taxi from the office to Beijing international airport.

2002 International Professional Photo Fair (IPPF)

Shriro Trading Company participated in the 2002 International Professional Photo Fair held in Tokyo from March 7 through March 9, 2002. IPPF was one of the largest shows in the area of professional photography in Japan. The total number of visitors to this event was 65,000 during the three days exhibition.

Shriro Trading Company exhibited the complete range of Hasselblad, Linhof, and Zero Halliburton product lines. The Highlight in this year was 503CW color versions introduced from Sun Yellow, Ruby Red, Forest Green, and Cobalt Blue were added to the standard color for the limited time period. These four unique colored cameras attracted not only the female photographers but also young advanced amateurs.

From the Linhof product line, M679CC was introduced. This product was designed primarily for the high-end digital photography with the maximum flexibility. It allows the tilt and shift capability which was unique to most of the digital cameras.

New computer cases series were introduced from the Zero Halliburton product line. By the introduction of the specially designed hinges, this new series eliminated the stay arms which would make it more convenient for the users to stuff the document in the case.
